I used to write an original anniversary post every year, but I think I've decided to just add on to this post each year. I kind of like to look back and find all of our years of marriage in one place. : ) So here we go...

It's been FIVE years. Incredible, yes. Definitely not perfect. At year five, I can look back and see that I married someone who would help me grow. We're so much older, wiser, mature and experienced at year five. Thankfully with that life experience comes the ability to be content, filled with joy, happy and oh so grateful. I'm super blessed to live with a man that is a sweet friend, a helpful husband and amazing father. Life has certainly surprised us a time or two. We're living in San Antonio for goodness sakes! Still I wouldn't trade a moment of what we've lived through...it's what binds us and makes us love one another a little deeper with each passing year. Thanks, Daniel for all that you are to me. I lucked out when God brought me you. Happy anniversary! Curious to see where we are in five more years, my dear!

YEAR FOUR - 2011...began with prayer and hope, Daniel rode in the MS 150 for the second year in a row, more sweet friends and clients were married, I turned my life back over to God and found victory in so many things, we got a new bulldog puppy - Harley, traveled to Vegas to celebrate 5 years since we all left Aggieland - hands down most fun time ever . We found out we were pregant!!! - such joy! All of our other friends got pregnant too; Lily turned one; we spent some great time relaxing with family over the holidays and rung in the New Year with such anticipation to meet baby boy Parker in 2011. This last year, I learned that my husband developed into a man of God - full of forgiveness and grace. We became better friends than ever before and our marriage is in a place that it has never been. I'd say that I'm more in love with Daniel today than any other day in the past. I am so grateful. I can't wait to meet our son and begin life with him.

YEAR THREE - 2010

YEAR TWO - 2009 - Year two of marriage began well...we moved into our brand new house, celebrated as more friends and family members married, were thrilled to see my business grow, met friends we know we'll love for a lifetime, rejoiced when Grandma Sue was a liver recipient, watched Bek graduate from high school and HanBan graduate from Texas A&M - CUM LAUDE and spent some time traveling with family. Then Emily went to Heaven and life seemed to turn upside down. The man I knew to be my best friend stepped in, held my hand and carried me through months of life I don't even remember living. I know I checked out, and I can't express enough gratitude to Daniel for being so amazing to both me and my family. Year two continued...several of us girls got tattoos, more friends married - we were busy!, a hurricane came through Houston and we needed a new roof on our house, and we spent Christmas away from home - tucked into a hillside home in Tennessee.

Year three of marriage consisted of the miracle cousin Ella Grace, more success as a photographer, Daniel's first MS 150, swine flu knocking us out of school for a week, having to put down two family dogs, traveling to Europe with my love - BEST VACATION ever, sending Grandma Sue to Heaven, welcoming Lily girl into the world, celebrating a few more marriages and more busyness at school. We were in much need of prayer by the end of 2009 and are so thankful to the dozens of people who called out our names to the Lord. He has been so good to us.
YEAR ONE - 2008 - The first year of our marriage we moved, honeymooned in Mexico, and watched it snow Easter weekend. I became a school teacher, we traveled to Washington DC and Ruidoso, New Mexico and decided to build our first home. We made some incredible friends and spent valuable time with our families. 2007 certainly treated us well. This year we began a tradition of taking photos of ourselves and our family on each of our anniversaries.

THE START - 2007 - I married a young man I was head over heels for. Our wedding day was busy. I remember waking up and being so emotional. I cried as I walked down the aisle and took Daniel's hand. My bouquet was heavy. There were so many friends and family members at the reception that I didn't know where Daniel and I would sit down for dinner - what a treat! We danced the night away, then said goodbye the following morning as we headed to Colorado for Daniel's last few weeks of work. I was super excited to finally live in the same city and state and to be under the same roof. No more airport goodbyes! We'd spent a long couple of years apart while Daniel worked in Wyoming and Colorado. Three weeks after we married, we moved our life to Houston and enjoyed apartment life, local friends from high school and college, getting to know the city, new jobs, finding a church home and loving on our Honey girl.

It's Parker's first day of school this year! I'm really excited that every Wednesday Parker has the opportunity to play with other kiddos and have other women care for him. It's wonderful {for both of us} to have a few hours a week apart.

By the end of the semester, he'll be standing ! Yikes! I'll be sure to take a last day of school photo too.

We're still wearing our Christmas jammies. They're cute and they fit which says a lot since Parker man is growing like a weed. He's also standing and climbing every chance he gets. I'm hoping he doesn't nose dive off the couch anytime soon.

Liz had been emailing me for weeks, and then she presented me with about six different scenarios...all of them with me spending NYE in College Station with all the other friends. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to be with my friends. It'd been waaaaay too long since I hugged their necks, shared some laughs and had quality girl talk. I just wasn't so sure I wanted to pack another back and make another road trip. After flip-flopping between staying in SA and missing my friends {didn't I learn the last time I turned down a visit?}, I finally made a decision. Parker, Honey, Harley and I packed a few bags and stowed away into Mom's suburban as it was headed back to Nav on December 29th. Daniel drove in and we loaded up for a surprise visit to College Station. I loved that Liz and Jen ran through the door and straight into my arms. Oh, how I ache to live nearer to those two. A part of me misses them every single day. We all ate dinner, shared some fun news, took a group pic and then I headed back to Nav to put Park down for the night. We went out to the Roop's farm and shared some girly drinks around the campfire before ending up at the Streight's CS condo where we talked until 2am. Oh, by the way, I left Parker for the night. Yep, it wasn't so bad...and I was only 20 minutes away. After hugging necks I spent NYD in Nav - napping with my boy. Daniel and I had a special night away from Park and we spent it slumber partying with the Larkins in CS. It was great to get some one on one time -- our first since the big move. Sheeesh, we love the four of them! I'm so so so glad I listened to my heart and not my stubborn head. I never regret time with good friends.

Parker's First Christmas {San Antonio, TX}

Daniel, Parker, the girls and I headed back to SA on the 26th. We had another Christmas to put on, this time at our house. I was so excited that my family would be driving out to see us and spend a few days with us in our home. Parker does great on the road, but life is so much easier when we have our own space. Everyone arrived midday on the 27th. Parker was thrilled to see his Chief, Cookie, Baba, Hannah, Bekah, Maegan, Rocky and Ruby. They'd been waiting an entire week to celebrate Christmas with the man, so Daniel and I trekked off on some errands while the crew stayed here. A simple dinner was started, Santa set up his loot, the presents were distributed and it was time to dig in. The Wilsons love celebrating and gift giving so there was a lot of opening taking place. Parker was so so sweet as he checked out his Santa gifts. The image of him on his knees makes me all teary eyed.

Everything he got made noise...the look on his face told us he was completely overwhelmed.

Daniel had to work all week so it was especially wonderful to have company throughout the day. We hung things around the house, cleaned up, unpacked the very last box from the move, ran errands and did a little bit of shopping.

Parker's First Christmas {Van Vleck, TX}

This year was to be a Shalley Christmas. We packed up {what felt like} our whole lives and hit the road for VV. I was excited and knew it would be fun to all be under the same roof. It's been a long time since all six sisters and brothers in law were together. We have such a good time and usually laugh our faces off when we get to see one another. It was also special that Great Grandmother would be spending a few days with us and have some time with Parker too. The first night, it was just the three of us and Papa. We put Parker down and watched some football before going to bed. The next day, the house was filled with people! Parker absolutely loved being the center of attention. He knows exactly how to get all eyes on him. It's hilarious. Poor man was teething like nobody's business and SIX teeth were working their way through all week. There was some fussing but overall he did really great and I'm so proud of him. Park napped well and um, ended up sleeping with us almost every night. The night time sleep wasn't so good for any of us but we survived it. Christmas Eve service was wonderful. Parker sat in my lap and snacked on cheerios for over an hour. Only once did he pipe up during a song...maybe he felt like he should contribute! I was shocked and oh so grateful that we made it through the entire thing without having to make an emergency exit. I didn't grow up attending a Christmas Eve service each year, but I think we'll try and make this tradition stick. It's magical to be in God's house celebrating the birth of Jesus at Christmas time.

Christmas morning was such fun. I've never loved Christmas. I love what it's about, but it usually stresses me out. I worry over gifts and can't stand fighting the crowds to shop. This year was an entirely different experience. I personalized most of our gifts and couldn't wait to see everyone open them. I know they were a hit! Who couldn't love something featuring Parker man's sweet face?

Park's Grandmother gave him a recordable story book featuring The Night Before Christmas. I'm putting it away until next Christmas. I know he'll love hearing this each year.

The remainder of our time in VV was spent eating yummy food, playing games, watching movies, laughing with Parker and soaking up sweet family time. Next Shalley Christmas we'll have at least two boys running around. It'll be even sweeter!

There are two precious girls who live across the street. They're beautiful and the moment I saw them, I wanted to be friends with them {they're 3 and 1}. Parker loves pretty girls and always enjoys seeing them when we're all out in the street. I know that over the years, he'll develop a good friendship with both Emma and Ellie. Emma was a doll and picked out a book for Parker...she even wrapped it herself. I had to document this precious little moment so that Parker can see it when he's older. Thanks, E! We love the books.

Parker {Eight Months}

My Wild Parker Boy,
You're growing so fast that I can hardly keep up with your monthly letters and sticker photo shoots. The 19th is always just around the corner. This month we celebrated Thanksgiving in both Van Vleck and Navasota, graduated to eating strictly finger foods, decorated for Christmas and spent more time indoors than usual. Your Daddy even put lights on the house! It's been cold off and on here in San Antonio but the winter has been mild so far. You have continued to learn more and more each day. I love the look in your eye as you think things through and then try and execute whatever it is that you have in mind. You have wanted to crawl so badly for so long and finally you gave in on the 12th of this month. I did have to get the video camera out to coax you off your booty, but you were headed my way before you ever knew what you'd done! What a proud moment for me. Admittedly, I teared up. I know that we have so many firsts together, but it's hitting this Mama hard that our first year of firsts is almost over. We were able to spend a lot of time with family over the holidays and you were the center of attention at every gathering. You are so loved and so so rotten because of it {I wouldn't have it any other way}. Your grandparents and aunts make over you like you're the only thing on earth that's ever been this cute...I think they're right. After all, you're the only thing in the world that I love so much.

Eating - You have mastered this skill. Since Thanksgiving, you've been eating three meals of finger food a day. You'll eat anything I give you and have no problem sharing my meal with me. This makes feeding you so much easier and I love it. You still drink your same four bottles a day and now drink water from a sippy cup with a straw. Yay!

Sleeping - You are an amazing sleeper. Finally. Oh, I'm so glad. I put you down for your naps and bedtime and you fall asleep all on your own. Big boy! You're taking two naps a day: usually 10-12 and 2/3- 4/5 and sleep a full twelve hour night from 8/8:30pm-8am. I love this! Occasionally when we travel, you don't do quite as well but I have learned to expect this. I don't sleep as well when I'm not at home either.

Measurements - I took you in for your second flu shot and you weighed in at 20.4 pounds. You're definitely a healthy man. You're wearing 9 month clothes.

All About You - You are so so happy. Every morning you greet me with a smile and immediately look to see where your dogs are. You've figure out that they follow Mama around all the time. You're so eager to eat that you'll let me feed you anything. We play hard for a few hours and then you take a good nap. I don't have to do much to help you fall asleep. You just talk and play until you fall over in your crib. It's pretty precious and I sometimes find you in the craziest positions. You are on the move! Still figuring out crawling, I know you'll soon be very speedy and I won't be able to keep up with you all the time. I certainly need to make sure I get the house as baby proofed as possible. You absolutely love to be out and about. You are the most curious baby and stare people down as you access them and the situation. I love to watch you watch people and things. We talk to everyone so you certainly aren't shy. You started going to school at Shearer Hills just one day a week and seem to do very well. As you get older, I know you will look forward to playing with friends and being around others. I'm proud that I can hand you over to just about anyone and you do fine {as long as Mama doesn't stick around}. You smile and laugh and talk all day. I love that your sounds are boy! There is an awful lot of spitting and grunting taking place. You can now say Mama , Baba. Da and Guh. I'm looking forward to watching you react to the events at Christmas. I know it'll be such a joy to have you here this year.

Christmas Time Is Near. {Lights, Jammies and The Tree}

I sat back and watched as he found the tree and the lights. I saw the sparkle in his eye beneath the twinkle lights and I committed every detail to memory. Soon, his first Christmas will be over. We'll never have another moment just like this one. I love watching my boy grow up; I just can't believe the first year is almost up. Bittersweet, but instead of being sad I soak up every memory, take hundreds of photos and try to get it blogged before it slips my mind. I want Parker to see how loved he is. I want him to know that I loved every moment we shared. These images will have to create the memories since his isn't quite formed yet, and then someday they'll remind him. Ah, I'm so lucky to get to be Mama everyday. Thank you Parker man for always reminding me that life with you is completely complete.

Daniel and I took our sweet man to meet Santa today. He was such a good boy...checked him out but shed no tears. I can't wait for the day that Parker is excited to sit in Santa's lap and tell him what he wants for Christmas. Such a fun first for our little family!

On the Move: Crawling

Parker had a very frustrating day. He sat, bounced on his bottom, went forward on all fours, thought about it long and hard, then went back to his bottom. I could tell he wanted to crawl sooooo badly. Late this evening, I got out the video camera and coaxed him to come to me. My baby is officially crawling! I have to admit that I teared up at such a milestone. Parker won't look back...he's on the move now! I am super proud of my boy and can't believe how quickly we've reached this stage.

The jumper is still an old favorite and so fun after a long day of learning!

Life is so tough for a little guy. Every day Parker learns something more about how to get from point A to point B, then C, D and so on. He's on the move and often frustrated that he can't get up and go as quickly as he wants to.

To Crawl or Not To Crawl?

Parker man has been rolling, scooting and sliding around on his belly and army crawling around a lot! This particular time, he happened to get stuck under the coffee table and was so mad that he couldn't figure out how to get un-stuck. I'm laughing so much and also spending about half of my day "saving" him from sticky situations.

Parker's First Thanksgiving. {Navasota, TX.}

After a few days with the Shalleys, we made our way to Navasota for more Thanksgiving with my side of the family. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, no question. It's what all holidays should be about: spending time with family and friends, eating good food, taking naps in front of the tv, laughing and being grateful. Thanksgiving is simple so we get along quite well. I do love holidays but I don't love commercialism or the pressure of having to buys gifts. I'm not a shopper and tend to stress about getting everything accomplished in time for Christmas day. This year we crammed Mom and Dad's house full of people, had our traditional Wednesday night Mexican food and pigged out on the actual Thanksgiving day before several of us headed to the final A&M vs tu game. I really enjoyed being around so many adults and having constant chatter among us. Parker loved all the attention given to him and was covered in lots of kisses.
Years ago, we began taking "porch pictures". Every group is a bit different than the one before. I looooove looking back at these.

Parker's First Thanksgiving. {Van Vleck, TX.}

We spent the early part of Thanksgiving week in VV with Parker's Grandmother and Papa. It was so wonderful to get away and relax for a few days. My cell phone doesn't work there so I was completely shut off from technology. I got to work on a Christmas gift project, sleep in a little bit and watch plenty of movies. It was so warm and Parker had outgrown these precious overalls so I took the opportunity to take a few photos. I can't believe how quickly he's growing out of all of his clothes!

Love this sweet boy who loves to check out leaves and grass. I have very few good photos with my man so we tried to snag a few just before nap time.

Parker {Seven Months}

My sweet Parker,
With a few house guests and the Thanksgiving holiday this month, you turned seven months old without my really realizing it. Every day I wonder how is he already so big? I love love love this stage. You are so fun and so so funny. My favorite things are your funny faces and the way you talk so much all day long. Your wrinkled nose and hollering keep your Daddy and me laughing. We glance sideways at one another quite often and think where did this wild man come from? You roll and roll all over the living room floor until you run into something and can't move any further. This is when you yell at me until I come and set you on your bottom. Oh what a long day we sometimes have! When I hold you, you pat me and I teach you Ma-ma, Ma-ma. You said Mama for the first time November 12th! I was FLOORED...my heart nearly lept out of my chest. At the beginning of the month, you started laying your head on my shoulder and falling asleep there as I rocked you. Very rarely do you let me cradle you and hold you like a little baby boy. You are no longer easy to feed, rock or put to sleep. You stop drinking your bottle about halfway through and pop up wide-awake. Lots of climbing and jumping on Mama ensues and then you back bend out of my lap. Bed time is a whole new adventure but it's oh so fun and I'll always look back on this time with you and smile at the memories.

Eating - When I took you for your six month appointment, the doctor told us to be working on finger food. Mama hit the ground running. Ever since, I've been giving you snacks when I eat lunch and you love having real food in front of you. You grab at it with your fist and try so hard to get it into your mouth. For the first week or so the food was stuck towards the back of your fist, near your pinky, so you weren't always successful. Now you're much better and are actually eating! You have an incredible appetite and I am so grateful that I don't have to wrestle with you to eat. You still eat some pureed food but are much more interested in what's on your plate - or mine! You still drink 4 bottles a day - an 8oz at morning and night and 4 oz during the day. You also LOVE your water and are getting so good at guzzling this from a cup. We're going to work on being able to suck from a straw next.

Sleeping - Oh how we've made improvements in sleep. Thank the good Lord. At the beginning of the month you were sleeping through the night one to two nights a week and would sometimes have to get in bed with Mama and Daddy. We do love to snuggle with you but are anxious for you to sleep well all on your own. Just this week you began sleeping on your tummy and that seems to help because you have slept through the night all week! I don't even know what to do with so much uninterrupted rest. : ) Naps are still going strong. You sleep great in the mornings and okay in the afternoons.

Measurements - I hate to say this, but we forgot to weigh you this month. Ooops! Traveling for Thanksgiving break didn't help Mommy's memory. We'll have to check you at 8 months.

All About You- We have had quite a busy month and have been on the road a lot. You got a little sick on the 26th and actually threw up three times. It was not so fun and I just held you all day and made sure you had plenty of milk to drink. I'm thankful this didn't linger since everyone in our family seems to have been ill recently. We went to Nav for the A&M game and then the week of Halloween Aunt Hayley and Uncle Jake were here and we celebrated the night with them by letting you hand candy out to neighborhood kids and dressing you up in Halloween jammies. So cute! You and I went with Hayley to register for you baby cousin and you were so good the entire day. I wore you in my Moby and you slept on my chest for a little while. Sometimes I miss just holding you while you sleep. You're now eating off of Mama's plate and have taken great interest in food. Thankful, I share with you but you prefer to feed yourself. Dee, Ray, Liz and Lily came to see us and we all went to the Big 12 Soccer Tournament here in San Antonio. It was exciting to watch the girls win their last Big 12 tourney! Aunt Ginger married Bubba so we went to Pattison for their reception and you said Mama for the first time that night - TWICE. Baba was our witness. Oh, how my heart melted. I can't wait for you to know what you're saying. You're beginning to get on all fours and kind of rock back and forth on your knees. I know you'll be crawling too soon! You still love to stand up and have started pushing off of me. I have to hold you tight or you'll end up on your sweet head. You graduated to a big boy tub and really enjoy your quacking duck at bath time. Nothing makes you smile like a bath and Daddy and I love to watch you play! We're soon celebrating your first Thanksgiving and before we know it, Christmas will be here!

Likes - playing with your toys, Harley girl, standing, bouncing in our laps, jumping, eating, drinking water, bath time.
Dislikes - Mommy or Daddy leaving your side. You've started fussing and crying when I walk away. I love you but it isn't practical to have Mommy sit near you all day. I hate hearing you upset, but I have to teach you that it's okay to play all by yourself and that Mommy will come right back.

I definitely have a thing for men in stripes. I love when Daniel wears them and find that they're also my favorite thing to put Parker man in. This has been one of my favorite little outfits so before it grew too small, I knew we needed a few photos.

Finger Food Practice

The doctor said to eat, so we're taking every available opportunity to practice picking up food and get it into the mouth. I've started giving Parker a snack or part of my lunch so that when he can watch me eat and hopefully mimic the behavior. I love that Parker thought he could bend over, mouth open and eat without using his hands! So funny!

Much better but he hasn't figured out how to uncurl the fists yet. Very few pieces are making it in!

Dog hair + snack time = YUCK.

Parker is also getting better about feeding himself with a bottle. He'll definitely knows it goes in his mouth and will attempt to hold it but can't quite do it all by himself yet.

We've graduated from the infant tub to a yellow duck tub that allows Parker to sit up but protects him from face planting into the bottom of the tub. At first, he didn't know quite what to think and kind of leaned back as though he were in a spa. : ) After a few baths I think he's got it down. I'm a sucker for naked baby/bathtub photos. My man is adorable!

My friend Shelby was married a year and a half ago. I'm cleaning house on a bunch of galleries and someone asked to see these. Until today, these had been unedited. I don't know why! {except that I got pregnant and my life kind of slipped out of control}. The images are GORGEOUS and so are the people. We had a blast celebrating with all our friends. Now, we just can't wait to meet the new baby that is on her way!

Parker's First Halloween.

Parker is a big boy and started eating finger foods this week. Here he is with his peaches:

Uncle Jake and Aunt Hayley came to visit us! The boys had a sales conference so Hayley and I got to do girly stuff and go register for my sweet nephew. It was fun! I was glad to have the company since Daniel wasn't coming home at night. Their last night in SA, the four of us stayed up way too late trying to name this new little boy and ended up doubled over in laughter. As I got into bed, Daniel looked at me and said "We haven't laughed like that in a really long time". The truth is, we don't laugh the same way with everyone we know. Jake and Hayley are pretty dang special; we've been through a lot of life together the past nine years. We miss being right down the road from them especially since they'll soon be having Shalley Boy #2. I am thankful that we're a fairly quick drive down I-10 and can visit as often as we like. Hey, it could be Alaska. Haha.

I'm not really all about Halloween. I think it's silly and absolutely despise dressing up. Poor Parker. We did make it outside in our Halloween bib {thanks Aunt Han} for a group photo with the Prude Crew kids.

It will be fun to see these stinkers grow up each year! : )

These two precious flamenco dancers live across the street from us! Aren't the gorgeous? I can't wait for a photo shoot with them! Parker adores Ellie and I know that they'll be good friends once he's running around and chasing her.

And here's Super Girl, our next door neighbor. :) I loved all the costumes. The girls made me laugh! They were tough!

Sweet Bailey is ONE! My goodness, that's hard to believe. I've known the Luces since we were all newly married. It's so fun to have watched our lives unfold as we have welcomed children into our families. It is a GREAT compliment to have friends ask me to photograph their children, their family. I love being able to freeze time for my friends, preserving what they love about the right now. Thank you Erin and Phillip. I had a wonderful time even if it was super chilly. Bailey was a trooper! I appreciate your patience too as I've been learning some new things and wanted to be able to apply them to your images.

Parker man can now easily feed himself from tiny bottles...we're working being able to hold the smaller and larger ones. This will make traveling in the car so much easier!

Parker's grandparents {Daniel's parents - Roger and Barbara} came to see us this weekend. We were so glad to be staying home this weekend and welcomed the company. It's been a while since we've had a chance to hang out with the Shalleys. After Park's nap this morning, we decided to take a trip to the San Antonio zoo. I remember my grandparents taking me to the SA zoo when I was a little girl. We did lots of walking and I have to admit I was a little disappointed...maybe it's because the Houston zoo has recently done a ton of revamping and renovating. Regardless, we had a good time {minus my getting sick} and I look forward to going back sometime soon!

Parker man is supposed to be learning how to hold, grasp and pinch food and transfer it to his mouth. These skills will take lots of practice, but it's time to learn. Park is very interested in food and his doctor says that she wants him to be on table food by nine months. His first experience is with this Mum-Mum...it dissolves in his mouth! I can tell that Parker and Harley will be sharing lots of food in the future.

Parker is such a great eater, thank the Lord. Sometimes he does get a little fussy and I need something to entertain him. Usually, I give him a spoon or spatula to play with, but today I plopped a spoonful of food on his tray instead. He loved spreading it all over. So cute!

Parker {Six Months}

My dear Parker,
If I were capable, I'd freeze time right now and live in these moments for another month or two. So far, month six has been my absolute favorite with you! You are the happiest little boy and everyone loves to be around you. You literally stop traffic when we're out and about. It could be your bright "blues" or maybe it's that huge grin and darling two "toofies". You've definitely stolen my heart {and run away with it!}. I wept as I prayed over you tonight...I can't believe how quickly we've arrived at this sixth month milestone. I hope I'm soaking up all the right moments. I know that I can't ever get enough of you, not even on our most challenging days. I don't want to miss anything {this coming from the Mommy who didn't think she'd survive not being a school teacher}. I love that you smile the moment you see me in the mornings and that all day long, you look at me with that mouth-wide-open-grin, like I'm the best thing you've ever seen. I know you won't always feel this way so I'm enjoying it while I can. I love the way you melt into me when you're tired and are ready for a bottle and sleep. You've taught me that no one can hold a baby like its Mama. You make me laugh so hard! Everything is interesting to you and I get to watch the world unfold around you. I can literally see you thinking and learning as you take it all in. You now want to touch everything...then stick it in your mouth! You're a big boy - sitting up, spitting, babbling, laughing, smiling and wanting to be on the go. Today, I dressed you in big boy clothes and took you out for a photo session. I heard you laugh out loud when I wasn't watching and saw you reaching for your Bully-girl. I scooped you up when you fell backward and hit your head on the carpeted floor {it took a paci and some rocking on the back porch to soothe you}. I watched you play independently for the longest time and then holler at me when you realized that Mama wasn't beside you after all - so I came and sat with you, of course. I held your hands and shushed your screams while you received four shots at your appointment. You were just fine once I could pick you up and offer you milk- so tough! As I rocked you to sleep and said our prayers tonight, I realized that at the end of every day I somehow love you more than the day before.

Eating - Oh my goodness....just when I thought you couldn't possibly eat any more! Haha. You are eating 6 ice cubes for breakfast {with cereal} and 6 ice cubes for dinner. This month you added plum, mango, peaches, squash, carrots, chicken and beef to your menu. You obviously like some foods more than others - sweet potatoes and pears are your favorite! I appreciate that you are such a good eater and often wonder if you'd stop if the food were unlimited. You're drinking one 7oz bottle in the morning and at night and two to three 4 oz bottles throughout the day. Sometimes you hold them all by yourself but mostly leave it up to Mama. One big change is that you don't have to be held like a baby; sometimes you face away from me and try to sit up and drink like a big boy. I'm not so sure I like this...means by baby is getting too big!

Sleeping - I'm afraid to talk about sleeping. Your daytime naps are really good. You wake up and within 2-2.5 hours, you're ready for a bottle, some rocking and a nap. Not bad. I use this time to shower and get dressed for whatever we have planned for the afternoon. As long as you have your morning nap, the afternoons are available for running errands. You need {and usually crave} an afternoon nap as well and most of the time it happens. It's just not quite as scheduled as the morning and that's okay. I like being a little more flexible now that you're older. Your bed time routine is the same, but we've pushed the time forward to adjust for daylight savings and in order to get to spend more time with Daddy. This means that you sometimes need a quick 30minute cat nap, but I don't mind rocking you while you snooze. You now eat dinner at 7, take a bath and go night night at 8. Your night time sleep has improved soooo much! I'm very proud of us. I let you fuss more than I used to and you're learning how to soothe yourself back to sleep. Sometimes you sleep through the night but haven't done so for more than two nights in a row. I know we'll both be sleeping someday soon {I hope}.

I don't ever want to forget the way you curl your toes when you sit. Love this littlest thing...
Measurements - We saw your new pediatrician and I like her enough. At six months, you weigh 17lb 12oz are 26.25inches long and have an foc of 16 7/8. I keep thinking you're a big boy, but you're only in the 40-50%'s! What kind of babies are they measuring? You got your shots today and I threw in a flu shot for good measure. You are sooooo good about shots. Once you're up and have a bottle, all the trauma is over. Whew. One thing we must start working on is moving from pureed food to finger food. I thought we were ahead, but I guess not. Homework, sweet boy! Shouldn't be a problem since it involves eating.

All About You - Somehow you are cuter every day. It's quite unbelievable and not just your Mama recognizes it. People call me to tell me that they don't think you can get any cuter and then you do! :) Your personality is hilarious. You're sweet and good natured, all smiles unless you want something you don't have. You're a champ at spitting and blowing raspberries by putting your tongue between your lips {photos above!}. This cracks us up, especially since you seem to have it timed for really appropriate moments {Mama says "I love you Parker"....spit}. When we rock to sleep you now take a break to burp but also have to stand up on me, grab my shirt and hair and pull my face to yours. I try to steal as many kisses as I can! You love to drink your bottle and play with my hand, watching my fingers bend. I know you are thinking hard and figuring something out. The puppy girls entertain you all day long. Harley is your favorite {by default}...she comes close and you flinch/close your eyes but grin and open your mouth and reach for her. She'll let you grab a fist full of hair. Yuck! Bully girl is soooo good with you and never seems to mind that you're so interested in her.You pat- pat- pat with your flat little hand on every surface and on both you and me. I take this opportunity to say Ma-ma, Ma-ma. Maybe somehow this will be your first word. :) Everything in the world goes in your mouth! You love to make lots of noise and talk to me all day. I love spending so much time together!

Likes -watching puppies play, watching Word World on tv, the tv in the car, the sound of Mama's pump, cell phones, your jumper, eating, bottles, musical toys, sitting in the stroller/ shopping cart like a big boy, checking people out in public - you're very very curious, bath time, bed time snuggles and play time, when Mommy laughs

Dislikes -being stuck on your tummy or back, when you can't have something you want, sitting in high chair without food. *Hard to think of things...you like almost everything!

Pumpkin Patch.

I went on a date with my little man today. We went to an orchard/pumpkin patch in Medina. This place is super cute and offers a ton of activities for older children. There wasn't much we could do other than watch other kiddos play, but I enjoyed getting out of the house and spending time with my Parker man. Plus, I had to seize an opportunity to take pictures of Park and the pumpkins. Look how cute he is!

Baby Favorites. The First Six Months.

Nursing

1. Target's Gilligan O'Malley Nursing Bra My fave! I wore this day and night. It was super comfortable for me to sleep in seeing that I've NEVER really needed a bra until my milk came in!
2. Lansinoh Lanolin - A must for the hospital! I used this during pregnancy and then as soon as I started nursing. It goes a LONG way. I bought way too much and didn't put a dent in any of it. I never had any dryness, cracking or chafing.
3. Lansinoh disposable breast pads - I wore these in my bra until I quit nursing. They're great! I even slept with them in so that I wouldn't leak all over my shirt.
4. Medela tender care hydrogel pads - I only used these a few times. When my boobs were killing me, these provided some relief.
5. Medela Freestyle Breast pump - A MUST! The price tag will scare you, but it quickly earns it's keep. When my milk came in, I was too engorged for Parker to nurse without first expressing some breast milk for relief/ to make my boob less like a hard rock. I pumped just a few minutes on each side and stored that milk. At some point, I gave up nursing and went straight to pumping {this isn't for everyone}. At six months, Parker still drinks breast milk!
7. Dr. Brown's bottles - I like these. Parker may have taken to anything, but this is one of the only bottles I ever introduced. They're designed to reduce gas and since he has a touch of reflux, I can't imagine how much worse it would be if his bottle were filled with air.
8. Medela quick clean steam bags - An easy way to sanitize ANYTHING in minutes. I use this for pacis and pump parts every so often. It's so easy and effective!
9. Gerber birdseye cloth diaper, 5 pack - Mine are from Target and they're the softest! Make sure to get the 5 pack/ rolled package. It does make a difference. We use these for wiping boobies, baby's mouth/face and burping. It's versatile and can be bleached. Way more practical than any of the cute ones. I go through 3-5 of these a day.

Gear

1. Chicco Pack N Play - We couldn't have lived without this. I was really weird about a bassinet or anything else being set up in my room. I thought I wouldn't like the way it looked. We set up the PNP as a just in case before Parker was born. Good thing! The PNP became the go-to for changing diapers, setting the baby down while I pottied, showered, pumped...and eventually it became Parker's bed for a period of several months. Now, it's what we use for him to sleep in when we travel. I LOVED the infant part of this PNP - super easy. I NEVER used the bassinet attachment. It scared me to pieces.
2. Chicco Travel System {base, car seat, stroller} - I went to BRU and picked up/ played with the car seats and drove around the strollers. Chicco was my favorite. I honestly didn't do much reading about safety. It looked and felt safe to me and I liked it. It definitely doesn't have a "cheapo" look or feel like some of the others do.
3. Chicco High Chair - Now that Parker can eat solids, we use this twice a day.
4. Summer Infant Video Monitor - I use it for every nap and at night time. I love that I can zoom in, remotely move the monitor if he's moved in his sleep and see him breathing! Whew. It's what helps this Mama sleep a little soundly.
5. Bumbo - Great for development of learning to sit upright. Even once they can sit up, it is awesome for sitting in/confining them while you get something quick done.
6. Target's Summer Infant Deluxe Baby Bather - Looooove this! It's easy to store at home if you need it put up and it travels quite simply. We've used it numerous hotels.
7. A chair for the nursery - Mine is from Baby's First Furniture. It swivels, rocks and reclines. Pricey, but comfortable. I slept in it when Parker was really little and I fell asleep in there in the middle of the night. Now, it's used for every feeding and for reading, rocking and singing. :)

8. The Bob - This isn't a necessity. If you can afford it or want to register for it with the hopes to get it - go for it! It is so much easier to steer than my Chicco stroller. We go for walks in this every afternoon. As it gets cooler, we will be jogging more often. I have the car seat attachment that I used until he was about 4 months old.
9. Target's Phillips Portable DVD Player - We bought this for our long car trips to and from "home". However, it is also helpful for running errands. When Park is screaming his head off, I can usually turn this on and it grabs his attention and quiets him down.

Toys

1. Infantino Activity Set - This is great for the ball. As a baby, Parker would kick it and really learned some coordination in his feet. Now that he's bigger, he can actually pick it up. He loves that it makes noise.
2. Edushape Sunny Activity Wrap - Upon first glance, this thing isn't super cute, but it grows on you. Parker has had it on his car seat since our first days of riding in the car and to this day he still LOVES it.
3. Bright Starts Snuggle and Teethie - The best thing ever in the carseat/stroller. It crinkles and Parker loves that. As a little baby, he absolutely adored that its different textures and sound.
4. O-Ball - I saw this on my friend Annmarie's blog. She's mentioned several times how much her Burke loves his o-ball so I thought I'd get one for Parker. {They're at Target}. It has quickly become a favorite. He's been able to get his tiny fingers in the holes and hold onto it for a long time. This ball goes everywhere we go. I use links to clip it onto the car seat/stroller when we're on the go.
5. Infantion Vibrating Teether - Eh. It's okay. Parker can now hold it on his own. I see it helping more in the near future. He does light up when he figures out that chewing hard makes it vibrate.
6. Lamaze Moose - It's pretty large so I've just now gotten this out and he really likes it.
7. Bright Starts Start Your Senses See and Sense Book - LOVE. A must. As a little baby, he could manipulate this and make it crinkle. He's always liked this. Crinkle books are not at all annoying and they hold their attention for a good little chunk of time.
8.Baby Neptune Ocean Adventure Playmat - Have some kind of play mat with tons of stuff to keep baby occupied. We've been using this for a long number of months. Parker still seems to like it.
9. Baby Einstein Musical Motion Jumper - The Best Thing That Happened To Our House!!! For two months, Parker has been jumping. First, just a little at a time and now for extended periods of time. There are a ton of photos of him playing in this on the blog. He loves it!

*Baby Einstein Videos are great too. Parker really liked those at about 3mos.

Sleep

1. Miracle Blanket - If you have anything at all, it should be this! The miracle blanket squeezed more hours of sleep out of Parker than anything else. I can't imagine what I'd have done without it! You can still use this after they get too long. Just lay them on top of the pocket and use the part that wraps the arms.
2. Sleep Sheep - You can pick this up at Target. It plays four different soothing water sounds. My favorite is rain. Daniel, Parker and I all slept to this the first few months of life. It is very helpful in drowning out the noise in the house.
3. Aiden & Anias Swaddling blankets - These are the biggest and best for a true {hospital style} swaddle. The cotton are great for swaddling. The bamboo are a must as well, but they don't stay taught enough to swaddle as well.
4. Nuk Pacifiers - I bought four different types of pacis and these are my faves {and Parker's too}.
5. Woombie - I ordered this online from the manufacturer's website. I wish I'd had it when Parker came home from the hospital. I don't think I got it until he was a couple of months old. I integrated this in at nap time and then once he started breaking out of the miracle swaddle, we used it at naptime.
6. His Gem Lovey - I love this!
7. Cloud B Twilight Constellation Night Light - We just got this when we moved to SA. I like turning it on for Park to fall asleep and if I have to go in to put a paci in during the night.

Clothing

I am not a clothes horse. I do like shopping for Parker, but reality always trumps coming home with everything cute in every store we walk into.
1. Long Sleeve Side Snap Shirt - I got mine at Target - they're Gerber. These are great for the first few nights at home! The hospital actually puts the babies in this too. So easy for middle of the night diaper changes.
2. Zip up/ Footed Jammies - You need these in every size for FOREVER. Zippers beat out snaps anyday, especially when baby is little and diapers are still getting changed throughout the night.
3. Onesies - Every size. Parker is 6months old and we still lounge around the house in a onesie.
4. Romper - Add a little leg to a onesie and it becomes more "appropriate" for public. :)

Must Haves

1. Nose Frida Snot Sucker
This is an alternative to the nasal {bulb} aspirator. They don't work so great and you can't at all see what you're doing and if you're getting any snot. Whoever invented this thing is genius. Parker can't stand it, but that's because it works really well. No worries, there is a filter in place so that you aren't sucking snot into your mouth!
2. Baby Care App - Google this and download for your specific phone. I couldn't have lived without mine. It keeps up with all the important stuff: which breast you last nursed on first and how long, bottle times and ounces, sleep sessions, diaper changes, baths, immunizations and more.
3. Moby Wrap - I wore Parker around the house when he was little and he wouldn't let me put him down. Now, I wear him grocery shopping or walking! He loves it so so much. I've worn other carriers and this is by far the most comfortable.
4. Amazon Mom Subscribe and Save - Subscribe! Have diapers and wipes delivered to your doorstep for CHEAP - FREE SHIPPING!

Parker and I spent most of the day alone. He napped and played and then I decided to see if he could sit up all by himself. Big boy! He loves to sit propped up against anything. I've known for a long time that he'd love the in-dependency in being able to do it all on his own.

This is the first outfit that Daddy Daniel picked out and purchased for Park all on his own. I've been meaning to get a photo of Parker wearing this adorable two piece outfit {shorts and a shirt}. but I keep forgetting. I stuffed my 5 month old boy into this 3 month outfit all for the sake of a memory. Thanks for being a good sport, Pman. I love that your Daddy surprised me with this after a trip to the outlet mall.

We celebrated our sweet Lily's 2nd birthday today! LOTS of family and friends watched her open presents and ooooh and ahhhh over each one. It was so much fun! I still can't get over the fact that my girl is TWO.

Baba's been here all week {which I LOVE} and we've had so much fun hanging out and making baby food and chicken crepes. I couldn't have accomplished all that I did without her help. Parker and I miss Baba so much when she goes back to ETX and we wish she lived closer! On our road trip back to Nav, we decided to make a stop in Round Top and Warrenton to shop at this fall's antique fair. Woohoo! We LOVE this kind of thing. Parker was a sweet boy in the car and let us walk around for a few hours before heading on to Cookie's house. Before we left, we snapped a few pics.

Oh, my Parker boy...Mama is so so in love with you. I have to be honest, sweet man. I didn't know if I would like being a stay at home Mama. I never envisioned this kind of life {at all} and I had some serious doubts about whether or not I'd be able to spend day after day with you and not want to lose it. I'm used to big kids, loud mouths, lots of interaction/conversation. I'm not used to lots of spit up, fussing, laundry, bottle making, errand running, or meal planning. Ahhhh, but our days are filled with so much more! I get to see every smile, every little sigh and wrinkle of the forehead as you figure things out. I'm the one who holds you when you cry, rocks you to sleep and greets you when you wake up from a nap. Sure, we have our bad days and some really cranky moments, but I wouldn't trade these days with you for anything. Promise. *Extra special thanks to Daniel for working so hard each day. Not only do you support us, you allow me to love on our boy every day. Each moment is priceless. Thank you.

Eating You love love love to eat! Mama is making your baby food and we've tried so many good foods. Your first was sweet potato and it is a favorite. You've also tasted avocado, banana, green bean and apple.You started out with just 1-2 ice cubes of one food but have grown to love food so much that you now eat 2 cubes of 2 different foods {fruit for breakfast and veggies for dinner}. You know what food is and where it belongs. I love that you are grabbing the spoon and pulling it to your mouth to "help mama". Smart boy! You take 4-5 bottles a day. I've increased the number of ounces you're taking in the morning so that you aren't starving from bottle to bottle. You also reach for your bottle and make your "hungry bird" face that I LOVE. BIG NEWS - we night weaned this month and you are no longer taking a bottle in the middle of the night. It wasn't too bad {easier than I thought}. Can't believe you're so big.

Sleeping The very first night it was "just the three of us" in our new house, I began sleep training. Sweet Amy Vaughn sent a book that I read through as fast as I could. We spent a week working on falling asleep on your own {no more rocking to sleep. boo!} so that you could fall back asleep during the night. You're improving and waking up far less. We've established a routine too: wake up at 8am, eat breakfast, play and drink a bottle, nap from 10-12, play and drink a bottle, run errands or hang out at home and squeeze in an afternoon nap, go for a walk and check the mail to kill time before dinner, dinner at 6pm, bath and bed time at 7pm. It's a full day! You have taken to this and adjusted better than I could have hoped.

Measurements- You don't go to the doctor until next month. Thank goodness we found a pediatrician in SA. I stood on the scale with you and you weigh about 16 and a half pound. Big boy! You're wearing 3-6 or 6 month clothing.

All About You - What a big month! We're all moved to San Antonio. You were so so good the week of the move. I couldn't have asked for a better baby man. Your personality has developed so much and I love the sweet, funny boy you've become. You've found your feet and are able to get them in your mouth. You hold your tongue between your lips. There's some definite teething going on - drool monster! You are now able to reach for objects and bring them to your mouth {my favorite is when you say "ooooohhhh" with your little bird face and grab your bottle}. You still love to walk and prefer to be in someone whose standing's arms. You get frustrated with your jumper after a few minutes, but you're slowly building up to more time in it. Yay! I will love when you have more to do. You are spending more time on your play mat and don't fuss quite as much when I put you on your tummy. You're able to drink from a sippy cup and love splashing and kicking in the bath tub. You are super happy and spread joy everywhere you go.

Likes - You want anything that Mama has in her hands - favorites are my cell phone and drink or your bottle. You love going shopping/ errand running since I wear you in the Moby wrap. Your cuteness stops traffic everywhere we go! You love your O-ball, watching tv, walking and looking at things, talking and smiling, going for a stroll and getting attention from bulldog, Mama and Daddy.
Dislikes - Jumper toys that you can't put in your mouth, being left in jumper/bed or on floor for too long.

Sadly, Daniel's great uncle Joe passed away this weekend. We hopped in the truck after Parker's dedication at HFBC and made the long drive to Longview to Dan's Grandmother's house. Grandmother hadn't met Parker yet so we were excited for him to get to see her!

Parker is Grandmother's fifth great grandchild, the second boy. He really liked her!

Baby Dedication.

Today was such a special day. Long before we knew Parker was Parker, we knew in our hearts that we wanted to dedicate Parker at HFBC. This means we promise to teach him who Jesus is and raise him in a loving, godly home. Daniel and I are both fortunate enough to have parents who taught us about our Lord and took us to church as little kids. Now that we are parents, we feel what a huge blessing, honor and responsibility it is to ensure our child has every opportunity for salvation. This is not something I take lightly.

My dear son,
I pray that you come to know our Lord at an early age and that you love him as eagerly as you love {everything} now. Your spirit is so sweet and I know that God will use you to do incredible things throughout your life. You've already taught Mommy and Daddy a tremendous amount about the unconditional love that God has for us. If I do anything at all, I hope to teach you about our Savior and lead you to salvation. This would be my life's greatest honor. I love you baby boy.

I woke up pretty dang early this morning {funny how 6am is now early when I used to get up at 5:15 for work} and snuck out of bed to go to Mama's pep rally. It was so fun to see the girls and be around my old kiddos. I did feel a little out of place being a "visitor" at what used to be HOME. Lots of hugs, smiles and "hey Mrs. Shalleys" sure did brighten my day! Can't wait to go back to visit.

Road Trip to Nav. Round 2.

This time, I set out for Nav alone. Well not totally alone; Parker, Honey and Harley were with me. My car was stacked to the roof! I didn't kennel the girls so that we'd have a little more room in the back of the car. Honey girl LOVES to watch where she's going, so this is what I fought with for most of the drive.

She desperately wanted to move from the back of the car! Pathetic thing!

At some point, she hopped the seats and ended up between Park and the door.

Parker did great until we got to Brenham and he started screaming. I turned around at a red light and saw that Honey was SITTING on him. Oh my goodness! I haven't laughed so hard in such a long time. I sooo wish I could have pulled over for a photo.

Sea World Sunday

After everyone left, Dan and I decided to head to our neighbor's - Sea World San Antonio. I was super excited to go and get my yearly pass. I'm passionate about conservation, specifically marine life. Not everyone knows that I worked at Sea World Orlando and had the time of my life that summer. SWSA is kind of a bummer. I'm hoping to see some major improvements happen over the years that we live here in SA. Still, it's a fun place to take my boy on dates with Mommy. We only made it to the Shamu show...praying that trainers can get back in the water soon. The show is a bust at this point. I think Parker was able to see the whales. Maybe someday soon I can walk him down front to see them up close and personal.

Super tired man. He was completely out of it.

All Boy. Learning to Spit.

It's really difficult to catch Parker in the act! Suddenly, he's spitting all day long. Apparently it isn't good enough to learn a new skill, he wants to master it. Ha! It's pretty funny to see in person. As he gets better at spitting, I'll have to be careful to keep my distance from his funny face.

After bath pics! This is one of my favorite times of day. Parker is happy and smells soooo yummy.

He also loves to spit as we lotion him up and get his diaper and jammies on.

*We got a surprise visit this weekend and dumb ole me didn't get a picture of all of us. Baba, Shannion, Hannah and Kenzie came to see us and visit with Eli since he's working in Cuero. It was great to have them here even if just for a quick trip. Hope they come back soon!

We're working on our ability to sit up around here. Parker absolutely can't stand to lay down so I often prop him up with pillows or stick him in the corner of the couch. He does pretty good for awhile.

By the way, I'm pretty sure teeth are on the way. My goodness, he chews on everything.

Most of the time we just play when Parker's awake. Poor baby boy...this usually means Mama has the camera in his face. I don't want to miss capturing any of his cuteness. Parker has recently taken more and more interest in his dogs, specifically Harley. Har follows me everywhere so by default she's pretty close to Park too. She will walk right up to his face, sniff him out, lick him and be on her way. For a big bully, she's very gentle. I love knowing that these two will soon be best buds.

Road Trip to Nav. Round 1.

We have season tickets to A&M football games. This means lots of packing, loading and driving every other weekend or so. It can be quite an ordeal, but once we're on the road it's all worth it. We get to see lots of friends and a big chunk of family when we're in the BCS area.

Parker has learned to reach for things!

Cookie and Chief don't have a bath tub at their house so Parker has what we now refer to as "spa day" in the kitchen sink. He loves that Cookie's faucet head can be held and pressed against his chest and tummy as water runs over him!

Meet Ruby {if you can see her}. Chief, my Dad, is the biggest sucker when it comes to dogs. So here we are, with four inside dogs and three outside dogs {this includes my two}. We're officially outnumbered: dogs - 7 adults - 6 baby -1. Harley is considering whether or not to eat her as a snack, I think.

It's 3:00 in the afternoon. My days used to be filled with noise, chaos, drama, teenagers, and busyness...I was always on the go. It's also Friday, and in Texas that means Friday Night Football. If things had gone the way I planned, I'd already be on a bus on my way to Willis, TX, with the Navasota Rattlers. Instead, I sit in a new house in San Antonio where the only sounds are that of the baby monitor and the sleeping bulldog. I just thought "how did I get here, what am I doing?". My life is on repeat and every two hours are filled with the same ole thing: change diaper, drink a bottle, burp {sometimes I have to change shirts}, play with toys, sing songs, go down for a nap. My days used to be entirely unpredictable. Right now it's nap time. For two straight hours, I get the house to myself. It's a race against time to see how much I can get done {there's always laundry, picking up, dogs to let out, dinner to cook}. I just looked at the video monitor, smiled and felt my heart skip a beat. My boy is sleeping peacefully. Oh wait, there's a wimper...he needs his paci put back in. Whew! Now he's playing with his lovey and talking to himself until he falls back asleep. Today is day five of my being a stay-at-home-mom. I've never "not worked" a day in my life. The thing is, this is work and it's incredibly hard. At the end of the day, I am more tired from taking care of Parker than I was when pregnant and teaching 150 sophomores {how is that possible?}. I've learned so much about myself this week, and I've seen my sweet boy turn another week older. I've wept over how crazy it is that we plan out our lives. God's plan will always win. Even though I miss my school, my mama, my crazy kiddos...the day I became a Mama I signed on the dotted line that no one else on planet Earth is more important than my baby. And so, instead of teaching English, I now give a million kisses a day, act silly in order to get a little boy to grin, sing Jesus Loves Me, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and Mama Loves You over and over. It's a different life for sure. A long time ago, I actually said "I will never be a school teacher" and little did I know it'd be the most rewarding job I've ever had. Until now. When I was pregnant, people asked me what my plans were and every single time, I talked about how I wasn't made to be a stay at home mommy and that I couldn't wait to return to work after my summer at home with Parker. Wow. Maybe soon I'll learn to never say never. Though I feel like part of my heart is still at NHS, the biggest chunk of it is here... and every time those little boy blues stare up at me I am exactly where I should be.

I gave him a few toys to play with but he decided to practice pulling himself forward and into a sitting position instead. Now that we're here and all of our stuff is moved in, I have to admit that I really like the house. It's growing on me and I know that by the time we leave this house, I'll love it just the way I love the Cypress house. :)

This is our new house in San Antonio. Love it! Can't wait to get all my stuff inside so that it feels like home.

We've been busy this first weekend out west. We hit the ground running and opened boxes and unpacked everything as fast as we could. The house has seen a lot of guests: Baba, Maegan, Hayley, Jake, Mom, Dad, Bekah, Berto, Barbara and Roger have all been here helping. We're so appreciative of our sweet family. Can't wait to have them back in SA.

Final Days in Cypress

When Parker was about nine weeks old, I needed a break - some healthy time away. Kids R Kids Fairfield let this desperate Mama enroll him in child care two days a week. Whew, has it ever been great! I miss him when he's away from me and LOVE picking him up at the end of the day. I know he's in great care and don't feel guilty at all about taking him. It makes me feel refreshed and I know I'm a better Mama at the end of the day. That alone makes it worth every single penny. : )

This is Parker's favorite lady, Ms. Niy-Niy. He gave he a hard time, but only because he LOVES her.

On his way to daycare, Parker grabbed his feet for the first time! He's been checking them out for a while now...I know they'll soon be his favorite take-everywhere-toy.

My entire house is boxed up. It took three men an entire day to pack up our life. Sigh. Wow, I thought this day would never be here and now I'm actually moving. Overwhelmed with emotion.

Baba has been spending some time with us this week to help us transition from one home to another. She's the biggest help and Parker absolutely loves her.

He thinks she's pretty funny and sometimes gives her really crazy looks.

Daniel and I are so grateful for Baba and Maegan. We could not have done everything we needed to without their help this week.

The big day has arrived. I can't escape it. The entire house is empty and tomorrow, we close on our home in San Antonio. I don't know what to think. I am excited about the new space and can't wait to get in the house. I am so so blessed to be living in another brand new gorgeous home. What I will soon learn is that a house is just a house...it's only a home when the people you love are with you. Still, 19827 Dayton Springs Drive has been our first and we'll never forget it.

Parker {Four Months}

Parker man,
Oh my goodness! I blinked and this month flew by. Your fourth month has been an emotional one for your Mama. The soon-to-be move away from Houston has me all over the place. Fortunately, you are my constant and I can always count on you to need me. It's been just the two of us a lot since Daddy has started working in Pearsall. Though I miss him and crave some adult conversation, I absolutely love my time alone with you. You have been so sweet to your Mama and have slept your very best! Thank you! You've grown up quite a bit this month and are trying lots of new big boy things like sitting up, eating food, playing in a jumper, wiggling out of your bath tub and even rolling over.

You look at mama like 'seriously, didn't we just do this?'...I feel the same way.

Chunky man!

Something got your attention! You are super attentive.
Eating - You are a BIG eater. You're drinking 4oz bottles every 3-4 hours. It isn't a big deal for you to go past 3 hours anymore. Whew. Thank goodness. You used to have me running to the fridge. You also don't mind if your bottles are cold which is great since we're on the go so much. As far as the night time goes, I only have to get up to feed you one big 5-6oz bottle and then you go right back to sleep. Sadly, you have started spitting up A LOT. I'm putting Mylanta in your bottles, along with a few tablespoons of cereal to thicken it up, and it has helped a little. I know you have a touch of reflux, but so far, you don't seem to be hurting much. We did try rice cereal this month and you stuck out your tongue to taste it. I tasted it so I'd know what you were eating and YUCK. I don't think I'll be feeding you that again. I'm going to make your baby food at home so we'll try avocado and sweet potatoes first and see how you like them. I'm excited to get you on solids and know that you'll love to eat.

Sleeping - You are such a good sleeper now. Every time we go to the Larkin's you take a great nap on Liz's pillows. It makes me laugh. You love how plush and snuggly they are so I've started putting you on my pillows when we're at home. You slept through the night for the first time on the 26th of July {10:55 pm - 6:00 am}. I was such a happy Mama! You LOVE for Mama to put you to sleep and don't quite do as well if someone other than me is the one to try. At night, you're sleeping from the time I put you down {usually around 8-9pm} until about 2am . When you wake up, you drink a bottle and let me put you right back down. Most nights you sleep in your PNP until it's time to get up for the day...sometimes you end up in my bed for the last couple of hours of sleep. I don't mind too much. I love snuggling with you!

Measurements - At your well check on August 19th, you were 15 pounds, 26 inches long and your head was 16 3/4 inches. You've doubled your weight since birth and are so long that you now spill out of my lap when I hold you. I can't believe how big you are!

All About You - You are the sweetest baby man! You are acting all grown up, Parker boy. When I lay you down, even just to change your diaper, you do baby crunches to try and sit up on your own. You have been so great, so easy while your Daddy has been away working. We miss Daddy so much! I appreciate what great company you are, the way you make me feel loved and needed each day. My favorite thing is to see you smile and watch you as you play. You're a happy boy most of the time. We took you to meet Grandma Sue's sisters and you laughed and laughed at Aunt Pat when she tickled you - what a sweet sound! I have to watch you extra close in the bath tub since you like to wiggle down and throw your legs over board. I don't need you jumping into the tub! When I hold you, you crawl up me! I don't think you're ever still - maybe when you're fast asleep. There's a lot going on in our house as we prepare to move to San Antonio. You are being so good and are adjusting to every little crazy thing we encounter. I feel so so blessed that you are mine. I can't wait to settle in at our new house and enjoy spending more time together.

Likes - walking around, looking at new things {you are very curious}, sitting up {we can prop you up in the corner of the couch or put you in your bumbo}, standing up - you can bear your own weight for a long time, kicking/ pushing against things, putting your hands in your mouth, sitting in your jumper and discovering new toys, being talked to {you love attention!}, bath time, your o-ball, laying in your crib for a little bit

Tummy Time.

Isn't he the cutest thing you've ever seen? Parker thinks he is a big boy! He's getting so much better about tummy time and no longer screams his head off when I put him on his tummy. Won't be long till this man is rolling all over the place.

Jumpy, Jumpy, Jump!

When the daycare ladies said that Parker liked the jumper, I knew it wouldn't be long before we had to get one of our own. I was hoping to wait it out until we were in San Antonio, but it turned out that we needed something to occupy as much of his time as possible while we were running around taking care of last minute things. In the beginning, Park didn't quite know what to thing. I love the expressions on his face as he takes it all in. Little by little, he's come to like it enough that he can spend 5-10 minutes at a time in this thing before he gets completely aggravated and wants to be picked up. Eventually, he'll love this toy and will be jumping all over the place.

Missing Em

I was feeling a little empty over Emily today and thought that putting Park in his dragonfly onesie would cheer me up. Cute man! How could he not bring a smile to my face? This onesie is a little extra special. My sweet friend AmyV sent it to me when she learned I was pregnant and it was the very first baby item I received. Thanks, Amy! This will forever be treasured. It means so much to me that Emily's a little part of us all and that you were so sweet to think of us when you saw this. I love you, friend. Now - check out this sweetness! I love him so much.

As we drove to Hayley and Jake's house, my eyes filled with tears and I whispered that I wished we were doing this for someone else. When Liz scheduled our going away party for August 6th, it seemed so far away. And now it's here and in my face and I actually have to tell some sweet people goodbye. Yuck. I felt sick to my stomach and wasn't at all looking forward to having to get through the night. I don't know what my life will be like without these people. I know that I'll still talk to them and see them every so often, but for the most part I get to see my dear friends every week . I have been so blessed to get to do life with some of the very best people. I love that we share our hearts, say our prayers, love on our babies, eat yummy food, and laugh until we can't see straight. These Houston friends have been the most fun! I know that no matter where we go, we'll always be friends... I just wish I could pack them up and take them with me. Wouldn't that the greatest? To all of you - thank you for your prayers and guidance throughout the years. I know that because of you I'm a better person, I know God a little deeper and I love so much stronger than before. You mean the world to me.

I'll miss my blue eyed girl more than I can say! So glad I get to see her on the weekends.

Parker and Lane finally got to meet and really liked staring at one another. So sweet! Love little boys.

The Sisters

I know that my Parker would have LOVED his great Grandma Sue. It does make me sad that I never got to see her hold him in her arms, but I got the next best thing! All but one of Grandma Sue's sisters and her brother were in town this weekend to celebrate some family birthdays. I jumped at the chance to see them before we moved all the way to San Antonio and invited myself to lunch. Thankfully, Pam and the other girls didn't mind and we were able to spend several hours with everyone. Parker absolutely loved all the attention and flirted his little face off all day long. He laughed and smiled and showed the girls his great big appetite. I'm so thankful we were able to love on the sisters! Hopefully we get to visit again soon. Love you all.

Playing While Mama Works

This mama is busy finishing a few things up before we move, so sweet Parker man is busy playing. He's growing a little more independent and I'm able to put him down for slightly longer periods of time.

Parker went to daycare today and when he came home, I decided to see if he'd like some big boy food. Bekah took pics, Daddy Daniel videoed and I attempted to get some rice cereal in the boy's mouth. He wasn't a big fan. I think we need a lot of practice when it comes to eating, but I have a feeling that Parker will soon LOVE food.

He looks anxious, but has no idea what he's waiting for. :)

College Station Sleepover

Liz's parents, the Streights, bought a College Station house since they'll be in town so much over the next few years {their youngest daughter, Meghan, is a rock star Aggie soccer player}. Parker and I drove up to CS to see the new place and hang out for a few days since Daniel was working in Pearsall. We had a great time! The Streights are a super generous family and have always treated us like we're part of the clan. We love them to pieces! While we were sitting on the front porch playing, Parker man laughed out loud for the first time. It was the sweetest, funniest sound! He also slept on a pallet for the first time and did GREAT. Miss Priss joined him for some cuddle time and when he fell face down onto his belly, Lily decided she wanted to lay the same way.

Little Friends

My sad boy could NOT get happy until I gave him my pillow to sleep on. Baby brat, but I love him so much!

Apparently, we've been spending a lot of time with the Larkins. This is all on purpose since our move date is FAST approaching! We will miss this family more than words can say!

We spent the night in College Station with some of the Straights and Larkins. Parker and Lily took their first bath together...way too hard to get a good picture. Maybe once Parker can sit up we'll be able to get one. Should be fun - both kiddos LOVE bath time.

Oldies but Goodies

Every few years, we get the chance to meet up with Hilary and Jason. They were some of our very first friends in Navasota. Mom and Hil taught next door to one another for a couple of years, but by the time I was in 8th grade, Hilary and Jason married and moved across the country. It's been since 2005 that we saw them in Orlando! This time, we drove to College Station and had our favorite - Wings N More - and talked for hours about a ton of old Aggieland memories. Jason is responsible for taking me to my very first Aggie football game. He also gave me a taste of west campus and the vet school...crazy that ten years later I became an Animal Science major! I love that even though we don't see one another often, we stay in touch, watch our children grow up and plan meet-ups when we can. So much fun!

The Best of The Best

We are called "small group" bible study. At this point, that's a laughable term. We did begin as a group of about 8-10 with only 2 children. The Lord definitely shook us out of our comfort zones and taught us a thing or two about friendship as we grew to a group of 26 adults with 7 children and several on the way! Originally, I would have been turned off by such a large group and probably would have thought that we wouldn't have the opportunity to have good discussion or form close relationships. I could not have been more wrong. This small group taught me more about faith, friendship and love than I ever could have anticipated. These 24+ people are the reason I've bawled my eyes out every single second I think about moving. These couples are new friends and old, but they all know my soul. We fell in love and fast. Together, we have shared the most intimate details of our lives, poured out prayer over loved ones, cried, laughed and eaten some super great food! The best thing about each of them is that I'm myself when in their company...my real self, the me that God created me to be. I can't type out just how comfortable that is. It's the best feeling in the world to be so loved. I know that no matter where we go, these are our forever friends.

Somehow, we all ended up at bible study the same night EXCEPT my family - Hayley and Jake we really missed you and wish you were in this photo.

07.21.11 Dinner at Bubba's in Waller. It's been a long time since you saw Ginger and Rilee.
07.22.11 First play date. Took a fabulous nap at the Larkin's {of course, since I always say you're a terrible napper}.
07.23.11 Your grandparents and Jake & Hayley came over for dinner.
07.24.11 Slept through church.
07.25.11 Started doing baby crunches in an attempt to sit up. You do not like laying down or being held like a baby.
07.26.11 SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT from 10:55pm - 6:00am. Hope to have more nights like this one in our future!
